Preamble

The SANKALP Imaging Services Center works in tandem with the Documentation Center and combines advanced ICT with native ingenuity and the strong business acumen inherently present in rural communities to enhance the rural community’s access to total information and communications services. This will lead to new livelihoods opportunities and create new jobs for local entrepreneurs.

To ensure that we select the appropriate technology and applications for the business needs of the Imaging Services Center and the Documentation Center, we will follow the industry guidelines for electrnic document management technology evaluation and selection.

Digital Painting

Digital Painting is a recent phenomenon. For instance, the above picture of Rabindranath Tagore was produced digitally on the computer.

Whereas creativity in the static visual arts has been through the medium of painting on oil, water colours and recently, acrylic paints on conventional media, such as canvas or paper, digital painting takes place on computer screens, using exotic painting software such as Fractal Painter and using a digital tablet to create any kind of brush or surface, imaginable.

Digital painting, therefore, promotes absolute creativity. It can be used to produce or enhance any type of visual art.

Sankalp maintains its own gallery of digital paintings, which will soon be open for viewing on the Internet. Voila!

Multimedia Products & Services

The Digital Imaging Center provides a very important support for the production of multimedia products and services.

The edutainment industry will be one of the main customers of the Imaging Center.

Livelihood Programs

The Digital Imaging Center supports services to livelihoods projects, such as the Handmade Paper Products Project, which depend on the production of high quality image visualizaion and production, in order to generate decorative and attractive products

The Imaging Center is a cross-functional entity that supports various kinds of documentation activities, including the production of materials for workshops on energy products and services and community housing, development of proposals and documentation for continuing technology evaluation and selections.

Social Programs

The social component of the work done at the Digital Imaging and Documentation Center are allied, and focusses on evaluating the actual progress in achieving community improvement goals through community documentation. By providing milestones, objectives and indicators of success to the target community, the Digital Imaging and Documentation Centers will assist in the planning, implementation and continuous assessment of community goals. The objectives for ‘Community Development’ shall be to:

§     Work with local community service agencies towards helping community members to improve their skills for self-sufficiency;

§     Maintain and disseminate databases on the physical redevelopment and human capacity building efforts in the target community, in order to properly document community change processes.
